Our Mission
We know that there are too many bleeding edge sites out there that don't degrade at all and blow the 8-second download rule out of the water. We aim to please, not with huge images and bells and whistles but with sites that work - for the new user and the experienced. Sites need to cater to the inexperienced because that is what works and has success in the long run. A site's navigation needs to be very obvious, if someone wants mystery they are probably not there to buy a product or seek important information. The saying "Content is king" really does apply. Compelling content and good content organization and design determine if your site is a success or a failure. There are some sites that you go to that leave you reeling with bits and pieces of information all over the page - no sense of what to do or where to go with that type of bloated content. Content must be relevant and compelling for your site to draw repeat visits. It also must be laid out in a coherent manner. If your site is confusing, your visitors will just go looking for another site with the same information that is NOT confusing. It's called "clickitis" and it has grown to epidemic proportions with the wealth of poorly designed sites on the web. If your site does not hold the visitor with good design, intuitive navigation, and compelling content, your visitors will just keep on clicking to the next site. Our goal is to show you all the aspects of web design that keep your visitors at your site and prevent "clickitis." Throughout our articles you will be informed on good web design. We will tell you what is good, why its good and how to do the good work. We encourage you to check us out - see where we are coming from. The need for pages that work consistently and effectively is there. We have adopted that as our mission - to make the WWW a more usable, personable and appreciated medium. Read and enjoy! |
